Senior Nco Recognition Ceremony~

On June 28, 2009 Robert and I went to the Senior NCO Recognition Ceremony at the club on base where they recognized Robert for making Master Sergeant and becoming a Senior NCO. Before we left the house Robert made a comment about the ceremony and how it felt like to him that he was graduating from high school or felt like he was being inducted into a fraternity. I could see on the graduating aspect of it, because in preparation for the big night Robert has been doing alot of dress rehearsal's all week long and because it was also a formal ceremony he had to buy and wear for the first time his "mess dress" (which I like, like!! It's across between his blues uniform and a tuexdo).

When we got there we went into a room aside from the main room where the guest were meeting and socializing and in the room that we went into was where all the other inductee' and their excorts were meeting. While we waited they pinned corsages on us their escorts (even the guys) and visited until they started. When it started I escorted Robert to get his Medal & and stand with him while they took pictures.

After that ceremony, we went into the main room to mingle/socialize with the guest until they called us out of the room to prepare to be announced. When they called Robert's name I escorted him through the "line of sabors" (Swords) and down the aisle. While we walked down the asile they took pictures and talked about his accomplishments, family, tours, job etc. with a slide show of pictures associated with some of those things that were being said. When we got to end of the line they took one final picture of us (boy I just hate taking pictures, but it went toward a good cause). We then walked to our table while the other inductee's and their escort's went through the "line of sabors". After all the honoree's were announced, they did the introduced all the distinguished visitors and then did the "table of honor" (for those that were deployed, POW's etc.) On the table of honor there were some objects and they talked about the representation of those objects and then we all stood and toasted in rememberance. and when that was done we ate and then listened to the guest speaker Chief Master Sergeant William T. Kelly. When he finished his remarks, the honorees stood one by one and said different parts of the "Airman's Creed"and had them come up one by one and presented them their certificates and took pictures. then everyone stood and congraduated the honorees. that was a nice night! (to bad we didn't get the rest of the pictures they took of us going down the asile of sabors etc.)
